These local rules, promulgated by the Judges of the Western District Court, are designed to make Western Pennsylvania a forum of choice for patent infringement and invalidation actions. The rules provide for accelerated case disposition of patent claims and make numerous changes to the process of Federal Rule 26 disclosures, claim construction, use of expert witnesses and disclosure of infringement and invalidation contentions. The Pennsylvania Western District is one of a number of district courts in the United States to have adopted such Local Patent Rules. We represent clients in patent, trademark and copyright matters and in litigation involving trade secrets, non-compete agreements, licensing issues and claims brought pursuant to the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.

On a selective basis, we represent corporate and individual plaintiffs in litigation under a modified or purely contingent fee arrangement. Under this arrangement, our compensation is contingent in whole or in part, on the result we obtain for our client. Cases in which we have accepted a contingent fee arrangement include legal and medical malpractice, securities fraud, intellectual property, environmental contamination, personal injury, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty.
