Dr. Wagner's practice focuses on patents, intellectual property, and complex commercial litigation. Dr. Wagner is an accomplished litigator with a strong background in civil litigation involving technical issues, such as patent infringement and trade secret litigation in the computer, electrical, and mechanical fields, as well as complex commercial and corporate litigation matters, including breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and RICO litigation.

In addition to his litigation work, Dr. Wagner is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and devotes a substantial amount of his time prosecuting patents on behalf of his clients. He files provisional, non-provisional, and PCT patent applications based on the needs of the clients. With his strong scientific and technical training, Dr. Wagner is well-positioned to handle complex patents, especially in the optical, electrical, computer, and mechanical fields.

Dr. Wagner also registers trademarks with the USPTO and conducts intellectual property audits on behalf of his clients in order to assist them in evaluating, strengthening, and protecting their intellectual property, technology, and brands. A company's intellectual property can be one of its most valuable assets, and determining whether these assets are properly protected is key step in maintaining and protecting these assets.

Dr. Wagner handles all phases of litigation, from inception, through discovery and pre-trial motion practice, to trial, post-trial motion practice, and finally appeals. Dr. Wagner has extensive experience taking and defending depositions and examining witnesses at trial, as well as arguing motions before the court. He has also argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which has exclusive jurisdiction to hear all appeals from cases involving patents. Dr. Wagner is also a member of the Local Patent Rules Committee for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the Q. Todd Dickinson Intellectual Property Chapter of the American Inns of Court.

Dr. Wagner contributes to the firm's intellectual property and technology blog and regularly posts on Twitter.

Before joining Picadio Sneath Miller & Norton, Dr. Wagner clerked for the Honorable Kathleen M. O'Malley at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Judge O'Malley has extensive experience trying patent cases and is currently sitting on the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Dr. Wagner then practiced law at Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon LLP in Chicago, where he successfully represented numerous Fortune 500 and mid-sized companies in patent infringement and complex commercial cases.
